If you need information on creating an IRS account, as well as accessing your third-round stimulus amount and/or advance child tax credit payments, see the step-by-step guides below. We hope you find this helpful and easy-to-use.

Step 1:

You will need the following to create an account:

  1. Access to a cell phone and email for multi-step authorization and login information,
  2. A picture of your driver’s license or passport (uploaded to your computer or they give you the ability to take the picture with your phone), and
  3. Either a cell phone with a camera or webcam to take a current video of your face for verification.

Click on “ID.me Create an account”.

If you have already created an IRS account or an ID.me account, you can sign in here under the heading “Sign in with an existing account” to access your transcripts.  Skip to “How to Access your Third-Round Stimulus Amount” or “How to Access your Advanced Child Tax Credit Payments”.

Step 2:

Create login information for your account.  You will need to verify the email you use for your login.

Step 3:

Set up multi-factor authentication by receiving a text message to your cell phone, or utilizing the other options provided below.

Step 4:

Upload or take a picture of your driver’s license or passport.  If you need to take a current picture, ID.me will text you a link that will allow you to take the picture from your phone.  After taking the photo on your phone, ID.me will then request a selfie video to confirm that you are the person on the driver’s license or passport.  This can all be completed within the link that ID.me texted you.

Step 5:

Enter your social security number.

Step 6:

Review your personal information (name, address, etc.).  ID.me will then verify your identity against your credit profile.  This will not impact your credit score.

Step 1:

Under the “Records” heading, click the first line labeled “View Tax Records”.

Step 2:

Scroll down to “2021 Economic Impact Payment Information” and this will show the total amount received for the third-round stimulus checks.  If you’re married, this should show the combined amount received for both taxpayers and your dependents.
